Creative spirit, beauty, and colors. Can you imagine services, events, and concerts of the church “Prieka Vests” without the participation of the creative ministry?! No! What would our celebrations look like without dances, theater performances, and multimedia animations!

Liga Vilskersta 

Ever since I experienced the Love of God and His reality in my own life, I have had the desire to show others that my God is The Creator – real, powerful and The Author of all beauty.

Probably that is the reason why my calling is related to the theatre, dance and multimedia animation that helps to depict the beauty and diversity you can find in God. This work is interesting and so exciting that it is almost impossible to get into a routine.

I believe that it is also why I enjoy travelling, getting to know new countries, cultures and people.

DANCES

We are dancing to the glory of God! Dance is a natural expression of our joy and glory to God!

“Praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute” (Ps.150:4).

Rehearsals of our dance groups happen 2x a week in 3 age groups:

• 7–11 years

• 11–15 years

• 15–24 years

Once a week (on Fridays) our dance group meets for rehearsals of worship dances.

We desire the dance choreography and our dancing skills to become more and more professional and versatile.

THEATER, MUSICALS

Did you know that the first theater performance took place in a church service? A group of artists visually illustrated what the pastor was preaching about. Later these performances became gained popularity and as the time went by almost completely left church walls. Maybe because of the fact that Latvians are great lovers of theater, this art has always been greatly loved in our church since its very start.

Our pastor has often used church artists and different props to strengthen the preaching of God’s Word and make it easier to understand. Our church history is full of instances when we used theater performances to convey God’s message to modern people in a better way!

With every year the performances for children and grown-ups become more interesting and professional. I think our church has gained special popularity not only in Latvia but also among countries that participate in “Operation Christmas Child” project carried out by Samaritan’s Purse. We are almost the only church which prepares a completely new colorful musical performance to children with the use of multimedia means every year.

I can proudly say we have received good responses not only from thousands of children and their parents who have attended these performances in Riga and different cities of Latvia but also from professional theater figures.

DIRECTORS
To organize such events we are creating scripts, music, songs, musical backgrounds, video clips, we are designing costumes and stage decorations. Big and small actors are learning their roles.

COSTUME DESIGNERS, SEWERS
They are actively involved in each project because what an actor or dancer would be without a beautiful costume?! It is not enough to draw beautiful sketches – they should be produce. It is a hard and time-taking but also interesting work which involves many people.

All of us are voluntary artists. Many of us have discovered unexpected gifts in us only after we got involved in this work to help the church. Therefore if you have a desire to discover and develop your talent in any of these ministries just come and join our team!
