"Golden Fund"

for those over 60...

“Yes, the elderly are the wealth and glory of our church. I am grateful to God for the „Golden fund” of our church. Especially for those who have been faithfully, heroically, and unselfishly walking with God in their life, and teaching, protecting, and encouraging the younger people. These people are the treasure and roots of our church, the backbone of blessing and stability. In the Lord's church neither the young are something without the elderly nor the elderly can do without the youth. May God's power, peace, and honor be to our elderly!” says the pastor Vilnis Gleske.

FELLOWSHIP

Once in two months on Saturdays at 12.00 noon we organize fellowship meetings. There we discuss things that are important for us, pray, testify of God's works in our lives, and sing together a lot. We also talk about the impressions from our previous trip and watch photos.

Every time some minister from our church participates in our events encouraging us from the Word and praying for us. We also have pleasant surprises in our fellowship meetings, for example, singing of our children's choir, performance by Imants Skuja, or activities prepared by the youth of our church. We bring some „snacks” to these events and we have a great time in our large and cosy cafe.

SEMINARS

Once a year the church holds a seminar for „Golden fund” that is attended by people from all over Latvia.

During the conference the church band is holding a beautiful praise and worship concert and the pastors are preaching the Word of God on different important topics.

We have special guest lecturers coming to these events - doctors and different specialists who give advice on healthy lifestyle for our age.

We are also very open to welcome elderly people who have not yet received Jesus as their Savior.

TRIPS

Every summer „Golden fund” is going on a trip to some of the nicest places in Latvia. We usually decide on the trip and its purpose together so that everyone would be happy. We also organize small outings, for example, picking mushrooms and berries, fishing and walking by the sea.

We appreciate the financial support of our church that helps us with these trips and other events, as well as pleasant presents on special occasions thus showing us love and respect.

CARE

Ketija Sile has taken the responsibility for taking care of the elderly in the church. There is also a group of activists within „Golden fund” who are led by a wonderful sister Mirdza Sipko. Maija Grosa and Ruta Rasova are helping her in this work. Together with many other members of the „Golden fund” they meet weekly at home for prayer and discussion concerning this ministry. Besides that the activists meet for work meetings to talk about what has been accomplished, to plan new events, and discuss other important matters.

Church members who are over 60 are especially cared for and appreciated. There are people in our church who are visiting, praying for, or showing practical help in their needs. „Golden fund” members who need some help can fill in an application form in the Information table or calling the church office. We are supporting our church members so that they would not be left alone in sickness or other complications but be with someone who can support them both practically and emotionally.

If you are over 60, too, come and join „Golden fund”! You can do it by filling out the application form that can be found in the Information table or through a personal contact after the service. You can ask ushers to help you meet somebody from „Golden fund”.
