Even the angels were smiling!

     The sun was shining, birds were singing, spring flowers were rushing out of the warm ground and the angels were smiling when in March 14th from all around the city the most beautiful and gorgeous part of the world – the women were hurrying to church in Gaujas Street 20, Cesis.

     Away with worries and anxieties! All of them are left behind the door! Women leave there suspicions, fear, and criticism, as well. Women know they can take with them only love, joy, faith, lots of smiles and hugs. And never ending longing to fall in love with Jesus.

     “Today we are going to have a “Pajama Party””, in the beginning said pastor Liga. “It means that none of us must prove anything or surprise anybody. We do not want to establish, teach, or show anything. We are here to relax and allow our Father to refresh us, give us joy, and heal us so that we could get back to our families and churches with new strength and power”.

     And the festival begins! The band “Vestnieciba” (The Embassy) has organized a beautiful, feminine, and blessed concert. The band proved their love and support to us – women – by dedicating their free Saturday and the fervor of their hearts. We spent an hour of blessed music both listening and actively singing with the band.

     Then pastor Liga shared the Word. The main message during the day was “Four things a woman needs to be truly happy”. And our Father in Heaven sure knows His daughters’ hearts to be aware of our needs and the ways of giving them to us! The Word of God set us free, healed, lifted up, gave us a new hope and courage. We left behind our old condemnations and feeling of guilt to straighten our spine and lift up our heads seeing ourselves as the children of God. Our Father loves us with unconditioned Love. We cannot earn it or buy it.

     Guna Liepina encouraged us with her testimony. She told us how God healed her from a terrible disease and how He rebuilt her relationship with her children and gave new wisdom and power to prosper.

     Then we had a coffee break – we mingled in the nice and comfortable church building to have a chat and enjoy some food. There was a special served meal for pastors and church leaders where they could get to know each other.

     At women’s request the second part began with a song from concert and the soft feminine voices joined together in joyful songs of thanksgiving and adoration. Evija Goba told us that the feeling of guilt and disappointment can come back after many years like it was before the salvation. But our Father can help dealing with it! The testimony was so powerful and supplemented the preaching. After Evija’s testimony Olita Karaševska shared the love of her heart and the Word about how important it is to understand and live in the richness of the Glory that He gives us as our inheritance (Eph. 1:18). This is the reason why the apostle Paul invites us to “to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called” (Eph. 4:1).

     Then all women from Riga sang a song and we heard Word from God about what a Christian woman needs to be truly happy.

     It is almost impossible to describe the spiritual work with our hearts that Holy Spirit did – during the concert, praise, listening the Word, and, finally, during the prayer time. The majestic presence of God was among us and He did His works of delivering and healing – many of us could not even remain standing. There were tears and laughter. Many things were left behind and many things were received.

     By the way, at the end of the day we had an idea to organize a great joint celebration in Riga this autumn. So, we are looking forward to it.

Anita Tirone (The wife of the pastor of Cesis Christian church “Prieka Vests”:

“For the very first time we had a Christian festival for women here in Cesis. First I was a bit worried about how successful it would be. Will we have support from other churches? Should we organize it in our building – can we seat so many people, etc.? Then we started praying about it and looking for some contacts with other churches. It was the first time we met the women from churches in Cesis and Cesis region. Praise God for this wonderful festival! And thank you to all people from Riga who helped us.

     We were and are so blessed! More happened than we had expected, prayed, and believed! What have we received?

     First of all – women were spiritually strengthened, they received healing for their souls and bodies, as well as good self-assurance in Jesus Christ;

     secondly – we developed contacts with women from other churches. Up to this day only pastors used to meet but now we know also the women who are serving in other churches;

     thirdly – women festival caused a response in our town. Ads in the local newspaper and the homepage of our municipality, posters on the streets and in the churches;

     fourthly – it was a new experience for our church. We have a feeling that God has widened the spiritual boundaries of our church.

     But the most important thing – it was a real festival FOR WOMEN! Thank you!”

     In the women’s festival in Cesis there were women from the following churches: „Prieka Vests” church in Cesis, “New Generation” church in Cesis; Cesis Pentecostal church; Cesis Baptist church; Cesis Pentecostal church “Vidzemes misija”; Cesis Lutheran church of St.John; Talsi Christian fellowship church; Limbazi Augstroze Lutheran church; Christian Radio church; Dubulti Lutheran church in Jurmala; Jaunpiebalga Lutheran church of Thomas; Latvia United of Methodist church from Liepa parish.

     “Being responsible for the women’s festival in Cesis I want to express appreciation to the pastors of Cesis church “Prieka Vēsts” Armins and Anita for organizing this festival in their city. On behalf of all women who were in your church we say thank you to your staff who welcomed us with such sincerity and warmth. Thank you for flowers, generosity, and love!

     I want to thank all pastors, churches, and ministers who responded and helped this festival happen. Thank you to all women who were with us in March 14th! 

     Thank you to all women who attend all women’s festivals regardless of where in Latvia they take place. Their testimonies about their changed lives encourage other women and remind us how good it is to obey the Father.
