I was around 13 when one winter morning I woke up sick. Actually that was not the first time I was feeling like this. It happened on a regular basis during the change of seasons. Of course, my parents tried to help me by giving medicines against some viruses and flu. It helped at first but the sickness persistently came back. After three weeks of painful treatment the doctors did not know what to do. I was sent to hospital. It turned out to be rheumatism. After three months of treatment in different medical institutions I was sent home but a short time later the consequences of sickness appeared.

As a result of heart incompetence and coalescing of connective tissues my joints started crackling. The doctors offered their professional solution - I have to accept the sickness, get preventive vaccines every season, and if that would not help - go to hospital. Then my doctor lead my mother aside and gently advised her: "Let him learn some paper profession because he would not make a worker." But...

God had a different idea! Once I went together with my family to a prayer meeting which was quite long. It was hard for me, a thirteen year old boy, to wait so long so I decided to go out to have some fun. I jumped on some haystack and ran around a house. After a short time I started feeling really bad and with cold sweat I went back to the prayer meeting for help.

Everyone immediately noticed I was not looking good so they offered prayer for me. No one prayed specifically for healing. They just stood around me and prayed. I had no special feelings besides the fact that I calmed down. After this prayer one sister told everyone that she had seen a pierced hand take a snake (sickness) away from my heart.

It was my first encounter with the gifts of the Spirit and the last time I had problems with my heart. "If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Today I am 45 and I can testify that God has completely healed me. When I was young I was actively doing weight lifting and I served the army. Today I enjoy sports activities and I like an active way of life sometimes doing things that others consider dangerous. Couple times a week I am running several kilometers and my heart "without the snake" is working just fine!
