On Saturday, 18 August at 2 pm the Christian church „Prieka Vests” will host a festival “Gift for Riga” in Ziedondarzs city park. Building on the last year’s tradition the church will present a diverse and interesting program to its beloved city.
The event will include a visual representation of the map of Latvia – the park pathways will symbolize „roads and waterways” that used to join 8 cities of the Hanseatic League in the Middle ages - Riga, Ventspils, Kuldiga, Koknese, Limbazi, Straupe, Cesis, and Valmiera.
We will have the opportunity to participate in the Great game that will allow you to get to know the history and traditions of these cities. Each guest of the event will be able to try different crafts – forging, tying knots, making a wreath, and shipbuilding. There will also be more exotic activities of the Middle ages – shooting with a small catapult, treasure hunting, rolling the wheel of a carriage and much more.
Families with children are especially welcome to this event. The littlest ones will be amused by different characters on an inflatable playground, and they will be able to watch shows for kids, sand cinema and ride in a horse cart.
In addition to these activities, we will enjoy a diverse musical scenic program.
From 2 to 6 pm there will be a show for kids „The adventure of Manfred”, circus workshops, dance and children’s groups performances, as well as a concert by the groups “Embassy”, “1:16 Kliķe”, featuring new soloists: Laura Zommere, Elīna Buce, Kaspars Zavners, and others.
This event is not just for families with children, it is for everyone who wants to have a great time in one of the most beautiful parks of Riga!
