REVIEW ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
In October 4, 2009 several million Christians from 175 nations of the world joined the 8th annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. According to the Eagles’ Wings Ministries data there were also underground Christian churches in seven primarily Muslim countries and in China.
Nearly 2000 people from Asia, Africa, Latin America, USA, Canada and Europe, mostly leaders of Christian, Jewish, and Arab communities gathered for the prayer event in Jerusalem. Many prominent guests attended the event, including several Israeli statesmen, as well as the Executive Director of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem Malcolm Heading, the world renowned evangelist Morris Cerullo and many others. Songs of praise and dances for the glory of the God of Israel were intertwined with speeches and prayers of the special guests.
“It is a new day in the Christian Church,” said Stearns. “There are millions of Christians declaring that they will pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We are not spectators, we are not bystanders, and we will not be silent…The sin of silence (during the Holocaust) will not be repeated… Shalom to Israel is Shalom for the world!” Dr. Stearns received a standing ovation and shouts of support by the audience at these comments.
Representing the government of Israel, Uzi Landau, Minister of Infrastructure addressed the Christians gathered in Jerusalem and watching around the world: “Thank you for the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem, it is important…we need more Watchmen on the Walls of Zion.”
Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, chief Rabbi of Efrat also spoke, saying, “Why do I believe God is with us? I have witnessed a new Christianity - one that observes the Covenant between God and Israel - between God and the Jewish people. It is a Christianity that proudly says to us that „you are the root and we are the branch‟...You stand with us, and for this we are eternally grateful.”
In addition to global prayer rallies and church services, the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem inspired more than 1,000 callers from Canada, Italy, Germany, France, Netherlands, Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria, Australia, and the U.S. Sounds of shofar and prayers for the peace of Jerusalem were heard ceaselessly in Jewish and many other languages.
The event was broadcast globally on GOD TV live to 192 nations. You can watch the highlights of the event here:

On May 29, 2003, over 450 international leaders converged in New York City for the Jerusalem Prayer Banquet, where they signed the Prayer Resolution that would launch the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. This historic event was the beginning of what is now the largest Israel-focused prayer event in history.

Christian leaders who want to support this prayer initiative and encourage other Christians to pray for Jerusalem! You can sign the Resolution if you:
UNDERSTAND... that we are children of Abraham by faith, the "wild olive branch" grafted into the root of G-d's covenant (Romans 11:17-26), and,
RECOGNIZE... that G-d has kept his word to Abraham and His descendants and settled them in their homeland again, according to the word of the prophets (Amos 9:14-15), (Ezekiel 36: esp. v.24), and,
RECOGNIZE... that we have a biblical mandate according to Psalm 122, and many other Scriptures to seek the good and prosperity of Jerusalem, until the Lord makes her a praise in all the earth, and
AFFIRM... that G-d's love and intended blessing is for all nations and peoples, and that we have goodwill and love for all mankind, including all inhabitants of the Holy Land, and desire peace in this entire region;
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CALL UPON ALL MEN AND WOMEN OF PRAYER TO YEARLY SET ASIDE THE FIRST SUNDAY IN OCTOBER, NEAR THE SEASON OF YOM KIPPUR, AS THE DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM.
